ENGINEERING AIDE

The St. Clair County Road Commission currently is accepting applications for an Engineering Aide. The ideal candidate must have a high school education, GED, or equivalent educational preparation with a mathematical background. The successful candidate must have four years’ experience in the engineering field. Candidates must have knowledge of, and ability to use, surveying equipment, material and density testing equipment, spreadsheets, and drafting equipment. Certification as aggregate, density, concrete, and bituminous inspector as required on federally, or state funded projects; successful completion and certification of DEQ soil erosion & sedimentation control and related training. Good working knowledge of various personal computer business software applications. This position offers a competitive wage ($20.65-$28.11 per hour) commensurate with experience.

PROJECT MANAGER

The St. Clair County Road Commission currently has an opening for the position of Project Manager. The ideal candidate must have a degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and be knowledgeable in road and bridge construction and have the ability to communicate effectively with inspection staff and contractors. The qualified individual must be able to read and interpret design plans and make decisions based on the information contained therein. The qualified individual must also be knowledgeable in generating construction pay applications, reviewing daily inspection reports, and maintaining necessary paperwork as required by the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. The qualified individual will be responsible for the county bridge maintenance and rehabilitation program.

Professional license preferred but not required.
