Cost Containment Efforts:

Staffing

The St. Clair County Road Commission tied all employee raises to the MTF.  As a result in declining MTF, for the four year period of March 1, 2006 through March 1, 2010, employee received zero raises.  Employees received a .5% raise on March 1, 2011, a .95% raise on March 1, 2012, a .66% raise on March 1, 2013, a 1.6% raise on March 1, 2014, and a 1.83% raise on March 1, 2015.

Staffing has been trimmed through attrition (new employees have not been hired when current employees have retired or resigned), resulting in a reduction in the workforce of 32 positions since 2005. This represents a 28% decrease in personnel.
